Drawing lab & Lecture -WEEK #6 "Earth= In despair"

 Ink shading techniques used

Hooded Man: Cross hatching for the clothing and the scarf, pattern for the basket on his back and simple ink shading for the shadowed parts.

Grass and Flower bed on the side: used contour hatching  for the grass starting from 005, 05, 02 and 1.0 of line thickness same with the flowerbed on the side.

Flowing winds: I used Pattern specifically, spirals to determine the flow or direction of the wind.

Mountains and huge  faces: used contour lines for the details of rocks, crosshatching to the face areas for more texture, stippling and scribbling to create the rocky texture of the mountain

Element and Principles of arts Used

Shapes: organic shapes for the shape of the mountains and the flowing wind

Form: In order to bring the 3 dimensional feel of the mountains and the human-like faces

Harmony: The flowing winds all go in the same direction and same pattern.

Texture: Used stippling and scribbling to make the rocky texture of the mountains and the faces

Value: I used thicker lines on the man, 1st and second mountain while those that is far away I used much thinner lines and lesser details

Line: I used lines to form the mountain and other details of it, used cracked earth to show the faces have cracks on their eyebrow, eyes sockets, ears, nose and lips in order to get that rocky earthly texture same with the trees also. I used horizontal, diagonal and vertical lines for details of the face and the mountain.

Space: I made sure to put in more details on the first mountain and to the second mountain and lessened the details on the third one and much less detail on the last mountain which shows the distance bet them. The foreground is where the man is standing, the middle ground is the mountains and the background is the where sun is.

Emphasis: The 1st mountain by making it large and putting in more detail to it I made it the emphasis of my work

Pattern: The pattern of the flowing winds they are all similar which is spiral.

Proportion: The hooded man I ensured he is not too small and too large so that way he is still noticeable at some point without being overpowered by the flowing winds and the huge mountain.

Movement: Since the winds are flowing in the west direction, the clothing of the hooded man is shown to be flowing as well in the same direction of the wind which is west by showing the waviness of his cloak and right sleeve and same with the grasses also they are bent to the west.

Balance: although there is no pattern, the mountains were placed at what I think is the best position same with the man as well so that all these elements can be seen. A balance in their placements and distance.
